Why is the app asking me to allow it to access my contacts?

VirusTotal Mobile MOD is a free, open-source app that allows you to scan any file on your device and view its VirusTotal scan results. We require access to your contacts in order to provide you with the ability to share files directly from the app.

How do I share a file?

Tap "Share" in the top right corner of any file detail screen, then select one of the sharing options available on your device (e.g., email). The app will automatically add an optional comment like "Scan results from VirusTotal" if you have not previously added one.

Does VirusTotal Mobile MOD work offline?

Yes! All functionality available in our web service is also available in the app. You can scan files and view their scan results without an internet connection. However, if you wish to share a file for others' benefit, you will need an internet connection as this feature relies on our server infrastructure.
